FAQs
Can we watch the classes?
Parents: if you’re unable to stay, we ask that you drop your children off only a few minutes prior to the class and pick them up immediately afterwards. The schools become extremely busy and we cannot be responsible for watching unattended children who are not in class.
Are classes closed on holidays and Special Events?
The Simac Mixed Martial Arts Schools are open during all half term holidays and will be closed during Christmas Eve to New Year’s Day. Some classes may be cancelled with prior notice for special events, such as: tournaments, seminars, clinics and instructor training days. In every case missed classes can be made up at the student’s discretion – either prior to, or following, the cancelled class.
Do I need Safety Equipment?
Martial Arts are a contact activity, which means there is a chance that students may injure themselves or others whilst participating. Here at the Simac Mixed Martial Arts Schools we take student safety extremely seriously, and offer a full range of safety equipment at our schools.
All safety equipment is available through your instructor, and is a requirement as you progress through the grades. Once you have achieved orange belt your instructor will offer you a basic package, which includes hand and foot protection. At blue belt you will require full protective equipment to participate in class. Again we would like to stress that safety is our main concern.
Why do we have to pay for lessons over the XMAS and summer shutdown?
You Don’t! Your tuition is calculated over a four-week cycle for 45 weeks a year, in 12 equal payments. This allows the school to close for 3 weeks (Summer and Xmas shutdown), while leaving 3 weeks’ worth of lessons to cover the classes missed due to grading’s and special events. You do not pay for shutdown periods!
How long will it take to get to Black Belt?
It can take anything from 3 to 5 years to achieve your Black Belt with the SIMAC system. Exams usually take place every two months, until you achieve your blue belt. Then students will be required to take panel grading’s, which are every six months.
